With the new year upon us it’s time for reflection and figuring out how we can make this year better than last with resolutions. I bet you either made a resolution to lose weight or declutter or be more organized, etc. But how many of you actually considered a resolution to do more for our planet? What about making an effort once a week to do something better for the environment, the species, the world.

It will help ease you into being better informed to make better choices in your daily routine to benefit your home, your family, yourself, and the planet. But here are some options to kick start your 2020 resolution to be a #superhero and #savetheworld! You can say NO to single use plastics. This includes skipping the plastic straw, plastic shopping bags, plastic utensils, and plastic bottles. Instead use a reusable straw, reusable bags, reusable utensils and a reusable water bottle.

Here’s one that helps you declutter, get organized, and save the planet all in one! How about clean out your cabinets and closets and donate gently used items. You can try repurposing items around your home. Turn that rustic door into a nice coffee table, or re-upholster the furniture for a new look in your home. If you are going to buy organizational items, consider buying sustainable items and eco-friendly products. As far as clothes go, first try to give new life to your current clothes. That means try to re-style your wardrobe with what you have. Saves you money and helps the environment. For the clothes you no longer want, donate them OR repurpose them and you have a craft project! We have used old t-shirts to make dog togs or old fabric makes for great door wreaths!

You can always start recycling in your own, office, or try your child’s school, dance studio, or a club (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc). But always check what items your recycling center accepts and educate those who will be participating. Finally, since most of you will also be thinking about spring cleaning – here’s one more final tip: Switch to natural cleaning products over hard chemicals. Vinegar and water solution make for a great natural product. It is safe for us, our pets, and our planet.

These are just a few tips to help you kick-start your superhero efforts to save the world and keep your solution to yourself and the planet. Make sure you check the Superhero’s Checklist!
