Meet Women's National Ambassador

Updated: May 21, 2021

This January, Nalicia Ramdyal of New York was selected in her age range as an official national ambassador of Beauties for a Cause.

"If we were to celebrate Earth Day like New Year’s Day, can you imagine the difference that we would be able to make? Earth Day should be a time for resolutions and new beginnings, which is why I have a few resolutions that I would like to share with you.

My first resolution is going paperless in my classroom when I return to work in person. Being in a classroom, it’s tough to go completely paperless, but now that students are getting used to technology, it is very possible! Students can now take most exams on a tablet or laptop! By doing this, I will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions that can contribute to climate change.

My second resolution is eating less meat. This is something I’ve tried to do, but it is very difficult. However, eating less meat during the month of April for three days to reduce my carbon footprint, I can see myself committing to this at least two times a week.

Lastly, I commit to driving less and walking more! I love my car and I love taking long drives, but I came to a realization that it’s not eco-friendly. I’ve begun walking to most places that are nearby, and now that the weather is getting nicer, it’s surely something that I will enjoy.

As an ambassador for Beauties for a Cause, I will be taking more opportunities to share environmental knowledge and motivation with the people around me. I want to be able to change the way that Earth Day is celebrated in my community because to me, Earth Day should symbolize more than just a day!
